Ordering a cake for a special occasion can feel overwhelming. To help make the process smoother, here are five key things to keep in mind when ordering your next LPS cake.
- How many people are you serving?
The first step when ordering a cake is deciding how many people you’ll be serving. At LPS, we use a cake size chart that helps our team recommend the perfect size based on your guest count. This step is essential so you don’t run short on cake for your event.
- Vanilla or chocolate?
Vanilla or chocolate? With so many available options, it can feel overwhelming, but we find that simplifying it to this basic question makes the decision easier. Once you’ve picked your flavor profile, you can move on to selecting fillings and toppings.
- How sweet do you want the cake?
Some fillings and cake toppings are much sweeter than others. For instance, a cake filled and topped with vanilla buttercream will be significantly sweeter than one with vanilla custard and whipped cream. An LPS team member can help guide you through the options to match the sweetness level you’re looking for.
- What to write?
Once you’ve finalized your cake, it’s time to decide what message you’d like on it. As a general rule, less is often more when it comes to cake writing. You can never go wrong with a simple “Happy Birthday” or “Congratulations,” followed by the name of the person being celebrated.
- Where will you store the cake?
Cake boxes can be quite large, so it’s important to plan ahead for where you’ll store the cake until the event. In the winter, we suggest leaving the cake in a cold car, but as temperatures rise, it’s best to clear a spot in the fridge to keep the cake fresh. Also, think about the size of the car you’ll be picking the cake up in. A small 7-inch cake won’t require the same level of planning as a large full-sheet cake, so it’s always helpful to consider the size before you arrive to pick it up.
Bonus Tip: It is all on our website.
All of our cake sizes and filling options are listed on our website. We even have a size guide on there. Feel free to take your time going through all the options before you place your cake order.
